Masturbation

MasturbationSex with someone you love, as Woody Allen put it — masturbation is the beginning of sex.  It’s where you learn what you like.

Masturbation is not as universal as you might think.  Studies agree that though only 5 percent or less of men say they’ve never masturbated, 11 percent or more of women say they haven’t.  As the data turns toward younger people, fewer women have masturbated — in a 2002 study of college students, only 44 percent of the women said they’d touched themselves.

But how can you tell your lover what you like without masturbating?  And what better thing, to be alone with your own fantasies, or simply with sensation alone…  sure, being with someone is wonderful, Still, people in relationships masturbate, too:  One study among heterosexual couples found 72 percent of the men and 69 percent of the women masturbated.  Researchers find it’s a supplemental activity that enhances relationship, not harms it.

Lovely solitude, the ability to take your own pace, or stop, fall asleep — whatever you want.
